Katie Ovenden and Riya Tarar took part in the Home Counties U13s in Reading over the weekend.

They had a difficult time in the doubles and never really settled into their normal play.  As a result they ended up playing in the Plate Competition.
They reached the final of the plate but could not win overall and ended with silver. The singles was in the afternoon and having warmed up in the morning the girls went out and played some excellent badminton.  Riya came first in her group beating the eventual winner and #2 seed whilst Katie was second in her group having beaten the #4 seed. This now meant Riya and Katie would meet in the quarter finals.  Of course this was great news for Wiltshire as it guaranteed a semi-final place for the county!  It was a hard fought contest with some great rallies but on the day Riya was just too strong winning 21-11  Unfortunately Riya lost 21-16 in the semi finals but it was a wonderful singles competition for the girls and as you can see 3 more medals for the Wiltshire duo!Katie and Riya will be in action in Winchester over half term in the Hampshire U14s.
