U12s played Oxfordshire at home (Highworth, Warneford School) on Sunday 9th February and came away with a very hard fought 11-9 win due to some extremely determined play.
The match could not have been closer with the scores 6 games apiece after the mixed and singles and just the doubles to play. The girls took all of their doubles games very comfortably in just 2 ends conceding very few points and it was left down to the boys to battle it out for that one extra crucial point.
With all boys’ doubles going to three and several with extended play it was always going to be an extremely close call. Aayan and Corban put in a phenomenal performance in their first ever game together to take an end from both the first and second boys, however in the end it was Robert and Ed who secured the crucial match determiner – match to Wiltshire!
Really great to see good communication in all pairings across the board and all matches played in very good spirit with our young players really enjoying their games.
Thanks to parents for providing another excellent match tea and crucially – the excellent players!
Under the supervision of his mother Corban produced some rather excellent badminton cup cakes, in view of their most welcome appearance and as a tribute to Corban ( and mum of course ) here's a photograph of the cakes before they were attacked by the ravenous hordes.
